The Power of Questions
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, inspire us to ask questions that open hearts and reveal Your truth. May our curiosity lead others to encounter Your love and grace.
"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. "Lord, I want to see," he replied.
Luke 18:41 (NIV)
REFLECT:
Jesus often used questions to engage with people, drawing out their deepest needs and desires. At the pool of Bethesda, He asked the man, "Do you want to get well?" This question was not just about physical healing; it was an invitation to explore the man's heart and hopes. Pastor Carter’s message emphasized the importance of asking questions as a way to discover people's stories and connect them to Jesus.
Questions have the power to unlock hidden truths and foster genuine connections. They show that we care enough to understand and that we value the other person’s perspective. The story of the man at Chili’s in Todd’s message illustrates how a simple question can lead to profound transformation. By asking about his well-being, he opened the door for a conversation that ultimately led the man and his family to Christ.
In our interactions, let us be like Jesus, using questions to engage and invite others into a deeper relationship with Him. Our questions can be the catalyst for healing and hope, revealing the presence of Jesus in the midst of life’s challenges.
APPLY:
This week, ask someone a meaningful question that goes beyond surface-level conversation. Be genuinely curious about their life and listen to their response with an open heart.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will discover someone's story this week by noticing, listening, or asking them a question. Consider asking someone a meaningful question that goes beyond surface-level conversation. Be genuinely curious about their life and listen to their response with an open heart.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the power of questions to reveal truth and build connections. Help us to ask with love and listen with grace, that others might encounter Your healing presence. Amen.
